Let’s Argue the Hypothetical

MSNBC truly crossed the Rubicon this week.

In South Carolina, after what should have been a routine traffic stop, a white policeman shot a middle aged black man in the back as he was running away. He fired at the man eight times, hitting him at least five. Our best guess is that prior to this, the two men had scuffled and the cop’s Taser was used. Scott, the middle aged black man, may have tried to grab the Taser. The whole circumstance might have actually gone in the cop’s favor had he not picked up the dropped Taser, yards from the dead suspect, and then dropped (planted) it next to the man’s body.

As luck would have it, a young man walking by caught most of the relevant stuff on video and handed it over to the police. Officer Slager was fired and arrested and charged with murder. Justice served, case closed, right?

Wrong!! Since we can’t get into a huge racist conspiracy stew over what happened, MSNBC (and no doubt other liberal outlets) are getting into a stew over what MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED! Yes folks, the TV is now full of 24 hour conjecture on what might have happened if the video had not come to light. Chris Hayes, who is rapidly becoming a white version of Al Sharpton, rushed down to SC to provide on the ground coverage, backed by MSNBC resident race-baiter and former daytime hostess Joy Reid. At this point, I wouldn’t put it past these pot-stirrers to inspire a riot down there. The rallying cry would be “you didn’t act racist but that’s only cos you got caught on tape. You’re really racist.”

Is it any wonder we have crumbling roads and bridges, thousands born out of wedlock into poverty with little hope of achievement and a dying middle class? We waste our precious time and resources on utter foolishness.

WITH THAT SAID

SC Representative Jim Clyburn has said some slightly nutty stuff over the past 48 hours but I heard one thing from him that did make sense. He wants young folks to have their cell phones with them and at the ready to video anything cockeyed going on with the police. Until cop-cams become mandatory across the country, I do believe it is in the best interests of the citizenry to have their own cam at the ready — and for cops to know they’re never really alone with their suspect, as Slager seemed to think he was.

  1. I mostly agree, though your voting record helped make some of this happen. Russian dash cams are almost universal to verify accidents for insurance claims and court cases. I always carry a pocket video camera, though not for possible police action. We all should carry cameras.

    Still when agendas run faster and ahead of reality life is what it is. Many think it important to paint the finale of the black community being blameless and ALL cops corrupt. Reality will rain down on that fantasy hard and it will likely impact blacks harshly.
    As for part of your previous post. I ended up doing more “research” on transgender politics and how that “horse” is being flogged to run now that gay marriage is settled poll-sci. To my amazement the transgender community really needs to get its shit together because the next stage is all ready coming out of the wings. “Gender fluid” folks want to be heard and are in some cases upset by being labelled transgender or gay etc.
    Agenda to the fore ,common sense to the trash heap, doth not a sustainable society make.

  4. It sure would be a wonderful thing if the telly visions the world over went dark for a week. In a week’s time, if all video screens quit displaying imagery and people would have to look at real things and react in real time in real space with other real beings. …sigh…

    Now there is one stiff I would throw into the general population – not because I’m humane or hold double standards for Muslims and blacks when considering the death penalty. I’m a believer and proponent that if you take an innocent life, yours is to be forfeited. Even fits my theology.

    With cold blooded murderers, especially those with authority and position to use that authority to commit egregious crimes, my devil side rules. Much like Raji, I believe the sentence should fit the crime. That bastard will be eaten alive in the general prison population – and that is what he deserves. To be hunted down, looking over his shoulder for as long as he lasts. Let him get a taste of being hunted.

    What troubles me about the SC shooting aside that a poor, hapless man was treated like a rabid dog and his family is left to mourn his death, is that once again something as clearly wrong as this brings into question of the equally clearly wrong cases of Michael Brown, Trayvon™ Martin choir boy shit. Baloney – those were the SC Cop without a badge. And I heard it last night that if only Michael Brown’s friend had a camera, blah blah blah…

    There is a world of difference with what happened in SC with what happened in MO. The NY Garner case was simply a tragedy – I don’t believe there was any motivation to kill – just abject stupidity coupled with a man in poor health. But I fear this gives the race pimps like $harpton, the looters like Ferguson, the MSNBC strife stormers the opening to open up old wounds, politicize it for self-aggrandizement and enrichment, and make excuses for bad behavior.

    As for your question. Provocative=yes but I am also sincere in that as a detached observer I know Gardner to have been a pox upon society ergo folks do have a higher quality of life without him. Granted not his family but thats not where I’m coming from. I also readily concede that like a weed I’m sure someone took over Big E’s singles gig.

    Problem is that it erodes true police work. Talking to informants, snitches, eye witnesses. Using common sense and letting people go sometimes is out the window. God knows that saved me a few times. Not to mention the state is now filming every where they go at all times.

    Brother Rabbit, I was speaking only of those in uniform and working patrol. I should have been more specific. Would have saved officer Darren Wilson and immediately demonstrated Brown a bully and thug. Like I’ve told the race hustlers, they ought to give Wilson a medal – terminating Brown probably saved several black lives.

    I understand the concerns and cringe that it has come to that. But my concern actually is more for the police than it is for the thugs.

    These racist demons like $harpton, Clayton, the Black Congressional Congress have put all police lives at risk, and by association all of us. I think it would provide a very challenging video record when it demonstrated just how the thug community is truly treating law enforcement. Most of us know of bullying, rogue cops. I’ve even dealt with a few personally.

    I also know a whole lot more that are ordinary blokes just doing their job.

Especially when around the world, its predominately Christians being killed for their faith when devout Muslims aren’t butchering lesser Muslims in mass and threatening to extinguish the entire state of Jewish pigs and monkeys?

    And I kept coming back to why is that a surprise to me? Christ told me as much almost 2,000 years ago in a written record this was going to happen. I guess its the fact that I’m living during those times is surreal.

    If you were more familiar with Christian eschatology, you might note that many, many things would appear to be proceeded as prophesied well beyond simple coincidence. There are several indications of which only a couple I will mention – the most relevant and obvious being the return of Jews from the Diaspora and the reformation of Israel – more specifically Jerusalem as its capital, the waging of wars and rumors of wars against Israel by named countries like Persia, the facts of what are happening with respect to Egypt, Syria, and Libya amongst others, the worldwide persecution of Christians and Jews, etc…some even believe many of the natural disasters now occurring are a forewarning. I believe there will be a Palestine State at some time.

    However, I am not telling you the end is near. The minute I start telling you these things, you can officially call me a crank – because absolutely no one knows the time or the hour. Even Jesus did not reveal the time and the place other than to call it many days from now – and that was upwards 2,000 years ago. All he said basically was as it was in the days of Noah, so shall the coming of man (Jesus) be. And that means not a person on earth will know – eating, drinking and making merry – all of us.

    Paul himself mistook the time because he thought the destruction of the Jewish Temple would be an indicator of Christ’s return – and I don’t rate Paul. The end of the period of grace is a mystery to all of us.

    No, I was actually referring specifically to the worldwide persecution of Christians, knowing fully well that time is coming for Christians in American and me, perhaps soon. You can appreciate I have a big mouth, am certainly not afraid to speak my peace here and elsewhere, have indeed made many an enemy locally by doing a really bad impression of John the Baptist, and recognize there will come a day all these comments and expressions will be like a bulls eye on my back. I found myself hoping sooner rather than later for the sole reason I still have some strength to at least make a go of it. 🙂

The Murtha and others even said their goal was to keep things as they were because bringing troops home was a bad political idea.     The Suni awakening was part of the Surge. It wouldn’t have happened without the Surge. Democrats didn’t want it to happen.

  35. The easy answer Tigre is that there currently is no deal. There very possibly won’t be one, particularly based on today’s pronouncements by the Iranian President that sanctions must all be lifted on Day 1.

    There are parts of Bibi’s criticism to which I relate. The negotiations fence off their nuclear ambitions from their other scumbag behavior. That IS puzzling.

    No deal IS better than a bad deal. But negotiation is better than no negotiation. My only criticism with Bibi and the Hawks in Congress is they believe Iran cannot be negotiated with. That’s a problem for me.

  36. Rutherford, Ayatollah Khamenei accused the white House of lying and being deceptive. Our administration said that economic sanctions will not be phased out after Iranian compliance is verified. Khamenei said the sanctions must be dropped as soon as a deal is made. Iran wants to put strict limits on investigators checking on compliance. We know how well the inspection process went in Iraq.

    “American officials acknowledge that they did not inform the Iranians in advance of all the parameters the United States would make public in an effort to lock in progress made as well as to strengthen the White House case against any move by members of Congress to impose more sanctions against Iran…We told them that we would have to say some things. We didn’t show them the paper. We didn’t show them the whole list.” Red State.

    Read deeply into Obama’s words. He said something like Iran will not have nuclear weapons on “my watch.” This leaves the immediate future open for nukes.

    This is another variation of the Slow Bleed to gain historical legitimacy for Obama.

  37. While you folks to the east suffered from severe thunderstorms and some tornadoes, we had a cold rain which changed to snow. It was heavy and wet for a couple of hours and left enough snow for me to build a small snow man for our grand daughter. The satellite photo shows a little snow still remains on the ground at our home. Sadly, we are still in Omaha today.

    The only relevance of the storm to this discussion is that I correctly predicted the snow, and I also made a connection between the Slow Bleed and the following election. I am shamelessly bragging.

Barack Obama in his zeal to look magnificent ignored their pleas and instead solely focused on “the good war” – a war which Barack Obama has now lost by the way and created ones even more radical than Al Qaeda while placating you fools who believed this dumb cluck knew something of foreign policy. Even America’s generals warned Barack Obama about his approach – but his narcissism and false assurance of self wouldn’t let him. There would be no more ChickenHawk approach, Iraq be damned; neocons were wrong.

    As it stands now, Barack Obama’s weakness has assured something all Presidents since Harry Truman have been able for the most part to prevent with promises of American intervention should the need arise in the Middle East – nuclear proliferation. Pakistan’s deterrent was and still is India.

    Besides our dependence upon crude oil, something technology could now overcome that Barack Obama also prevents, that is why we have kept a presence in the Middle East. Something you liberals, Jew haters and pacifists have failed to understand. This is not just about Israel – it’s about the West.

    The fools who put this rancid egomaniac in have all but assured that soon, the Middle East truly will be on fire with fissile material in the hands of people who will use it not as a deterrent, but use it as a club.

    Of all the massive failures of this grossly inept President and his sycophantic cabinet, and they are legion, I’m afraid history will show the most insidious incompetence of this administration is resetting Russia to the USSR replete with big red buttons thank you President Hillary, and empowering the murders of Sharia Law who oppress their very people. Nazi Germany and the Shinto religion are apt analogies.

    There will come a day Rutherford when you liberals will curse the ground Barack Obama walks on and be forced to admit that Barack was both a fool and a stooge for evil. The writing is on the wall.

    When it comes to Yemen, I think there is a fly in Tex’s logical ointment. If I’m not mistaken, Obama was talking about cooperation with a government to root out terrorists. In Yemen’s case, he was referring to cooperative efforts to go after AQAP. We DID have success there. He never said he would protect Yemen from an internal coup.

  45. Technically the entities occupying Sanaa are not terrorists or at least not the terrorists we care about (AQAP) . The Houthis actually have sympathies that lie with the former president Saleh whose tenure saw many good and bad turns as far as US/Yemen relations go.
    The US is continuing to target AQAP even though we no longer have a host central government helping us. We’re not siding with the right folks in the operations against the Houthi. Its time for Yemen to be two places again and with that it will be time to turn the “south” into glass.

This one also has had a civil law outcome of qualified immunity which has been beneficial to officers and municipalities.
    In my opinion the defense will probably try to punt along the following lines. Slager believed Scott had taken the TASER and was fleeing which is why he shot. After discovering the TASER had fallen behind him [Slager] he believed it was appropriate to place all evidence at one point so as to secure the important forensics.

    The reserve Tulsa County Sheriff’s deputy who fatally shot and killed a man last week when he thought he had pulled his Taser, is part of a group of wealthy donors who make large contributions to the department for the privilege of playing police officer.

    According to Tulsa World, Robert Bates, 73, who made the fatal mistake that cost a man his life, is a local insurance company executive who has donated multiple vehicles, weapons, and stun guns to the Sheriff’s Office since becoming a reserve deputy in 2008.

    Bates is responsible for the death of Eric Harris, when he attempted to assist in the arrest of Harris as he struggled on the ground with Tulsa sheriff’s deputies. Bates shot Harris with his service weapon believing he had pulled his Taser.

    I took my arrogant-prick-mobile (h/t to Tigre) in for service and they put me in a loaner. I raised the seat as high as it would go, with a cushion under my ass and I was staring at the speedometer. I told them to get me either another cushion or another car.

    They put me in an X1 and this time my line of sight was JUST over the dashboard. The service guy was basically saying “oh hell no”. I assured him that I was fine and if I had any doubts I wouldn’t even drive the car out of the lot.

    Off I went, looking like the proverbial little old lady who you see driving cars and it looks like the car is driving itself cos you can’t see her.

    As I drove out of the lot, all I could think of was that service guy watching me pull out and pissing in his pants. Probably give him incentive to fix my i3 in a hurry. 🙂

    Through a mix up, the loaner car to get us home so the children could go to school was a 1972 Chevy Biscane with no shock absorbers and poor brakes.It was a chore to navigate heavy traffic. After we returned home, we surprised my wife by telling her we had purchased a new car. Her jaw dropped to the ground.

    It took ten years for her to get even. We drove the tank back to Minneapolis the next weekend and got our car back. Our daughter later said it was her favorite trip.

    I was groggy when I woke one night but was suddenly wide awake. My dear little children had been waiting for me to go to sleep so they could watch what passed for porn on the motel channel. I didn’t discover what they had been doing for four days.

    We stopped at the mall again on our way to the Arrowhead and Ontario when the kids were in college. They window shopped inside. I waited in the car.

    Then her kids made the horrific mistake of buying her an iPad and iPhone so she could share pics with the grand kids. Drives me batty now. There’s this gaggle of women and a couple of old toots that now apparently Facebook all day and I get the most boring junk you’ve ever read forwarded to – somehow of the belief it’s still 1955.

    So today, I get this “problem” sent to me by email. Supposedly, 90% of the people get it wrong. In her group, so far the record is 100%. 😈 She hadn’t responded. So I said, “Please tell me you were one of the 10%.”

  233. I’m ready for a female president. The problem is there isn’t a woman that I know about who is ready to be president. That hasn’t stopped any of the men who have been elected to the office but I hate brazen liars and I don’t want to help put one in the white house.

    Last night I grew wishful and wistful thinking about it. The thought crossed my mind – could I vote for her? Just thinking “her” made me feel something akin to envy in the abstract for women who will be voting for a woman for president in 2016. But more than anything I’m dismayed that there isn’t even one exceptional female politician who is up to the task.

    The President of the United States is a representation of the culture of a community – in this case, a large community of united states under the jurisprudence of something we all call the Constitution.

    Do I think Barack Obama and/or Hillary Clinton capable of destroying America? No. But they are figurehead representing those I not only think could destroy America, but are well into the process of destroying America, both by omission and commission. Barack Obama and I have a very different mindset of what represents liberty and freedom.

    So Alfie, the question becomes a clear choice of two paths – both which can’t be right and for all intents and purposes, have become mutually exclusive. And perhaps the easiest way I can describe those differences are do we choose Caesar and the state? Or do we still believe the power rests with the citizens?

    I believe our Founders could clearly delineate the differences between the two. I don’t believe the Democratic Party can or does anymore. That’s not to excuse the Party of Democratic Lite – of which too many Republicans also fall into the trap of big government.

  237. I could vote for a female President in the mold of Golda Meir or Margaret Thatcher without much hesitation. As a male, I would always have a few reservations, almost all having to do with the call to arms and the overseeing of the military – especially dealing with truly evil men.

    But I’ll be honest with you, Muffy. I don’t see any females on the current scene or even the horizon fit the mold of the Iron Lady. Not one.   242. We used to eat at Sizzler many times, but now Omaha has so many new choices we rotate restaurants. I like Golden Corral and Texas Road House.

    Hillary Obama and others have already destroyed our country. It is not the same place it once was. Granted the destruction isn’t total and can be repaired, but their damage is cumulative. It will be over when they get control of the judicial system.

    The destruction is similar to the damage a wind storm did to our farm and home last June. A couple more storms like that one, would force us to build from scratch. We can’t afford more damage, especially considering international threats.

    I think the best way to combat those people is through mockery and scorn. Republicans should aggressively and politely with humor if possible attack unfair reporters and hypocritical politicians and cultural figures. Victory may depend on making her look silly. Her supporters also need to be shamed.

    For example, Ben Afleck should be mocked now. A PBS show “Who do You Think You Are?” or something like that traces a guest’s geneology. They discovered Ben’s ancestors were slave holders. He forced the show to withhold that information. I am not ashamed of my ancestors’ evil because I never met them. Afleck, a liberal can’t even face the truth about his ancestors.

    I mention Sarah Palin because she represents the harm evil people will do to someone they fear. I wouldn’t have voted for her but I would now if she was running against any of the Democrats except Webb.

I have to type completely blind. I can only load a thread on my phone up to about 100 comments. I don’t know how you guys do it. Good thing I prefer reading to writing.

    I don’t want you to curb your linkage Tex, I doubt the issue is caused by simple links but rather something that needs to run a script. After a point the browser just quits and restarts. It just usually bogs when there are more comments but this one has been a bear since early on.
